GENAYE NAIRN-STURRUP

Genaye Nairn-Sturrup was born in Nassau, Bahamas. She attended Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School in her formative years, and is a 1996 alumna of St. Augustine’s College, where she graduated with honors. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from The College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, New York, and a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 

In 2002, she returned to St. Augustine’s as a teacher of Biology. She currently serves the College as Head of the Science Department. Effective July 1st, 2024, she will assume the position of Vice Principal of Academics, Curriculum and Student Affairs.

Mrs. Sturrup is a sports enthusiast and a former national competitive swimmer. She has represented The Bahamas on numerous occasions at CARIFTA and other international meets. Mrs. Sturrup firmly believes that sports is the bridge between discipline and education.  She takes great pride in any opportunity to coach and mentor young adults, and enjoys aerobics and weight training. She is married to Senior Commander William Sturrup and they have two sons, William Brandon Sturrup and Grayson Sturrup.
